Being a frugal blogger, I hear from my blogger friends in other parts of the country about the awesome deals at Dollar General. That’s why I was so excited when Social Spark invited me to visit one of the newest Dollar General in California.
I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew that they accept manufacturer coupons, so I made sure to bring my binders with me. I visited the Clairmont, CA location, which was about a 25 minute drive, but now that I know what to expect, I’m looking forward to a closer location to open up. (There are plans to open approximately 50 Dollar General stores in California this year!)
Another reason to shop at Dollar General is their commitment to the community. Dollar General is committed to supporting local literacy and and education programs through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Learn more here.
So what it’s like? Its very bright and clean with wide aisles to shop. It reminds me a little bit of 99 Cents Only stores, but better organized and with national brand names you’ll recognize. As a couponer, what I really liked is that they sell many smaller size products. So, those high value coupons that come without size restrictions are perfect. Some locations will have a Dollar General Market where you can do your grocery shopping affordably.
