Do you have an iPod as pictured above?
Apple is recalling certain units of the original iPod Nano sold between September 2005 and December 2006. If your unit is one of the ones affected by a battery issue, Apple will replace it with another iPod with a 90 day warranty.
Click here and enter your serial number from the iPod nano to see if yours is one of the recalled units. If it does you will be sent a box to mail your iPod back to Apple and a new one will be sent out. (Both of the iPod nanos we own are being recalled)
If you have a personalized iPod nano, you will receive a non-personalized replacement. Make sure to use iTunes to back up any data on your current iPod nano before sending it in for a replacement unit.
Identifying an iPod nano (1st gen):
- It has a black or white plastic front and a silver metal back – later iPod nano models have a metal front and back.
Just a note on my experience.
I requested my mailer on November 13th. I didn’ t receive my mailer from Apple until December 15th. I mailed the iPod nano the next day December 16th. It took until Jan 10th for me to receive the replacement iPod.
I received a 6th Generation 8GB Silver iPod nano!

is there a replacement for second generation..the 2gb?
My iPod nanos were both 4GB. If you have one that looks like the picture, I’d visit the site and enter the serial number just to be sure. The 1st gen was black or white with a silver back. The ones that are an aluminum all metal wrap around case are not 1st Gen.
